It was used as an eyeliner in ancient days. Eyeliner goes way back to the ancient Egyptian civilization. Women used frankincense as an ingredient of their famed intense black “kohl” eyeliner. They burnt it, then ground it into a powder and applied it on their eyelids.
Frankincense essential oil is an oil made from resin that comes from the boswellia tree. This is found in Africa and the middle east. Frankincense gets its name from the French phrase “franc incense”, which means “high-quality incense”. Frankincense essential oil has been dubbed “the king of essential oils”. The versatile essential oil is used for hair care, skincare, and for health purposes, so it’s no wonder that frankincense is hailed king of all essential oils. Frankincense oil is fantastic for skin care, particularly if you have oily skin. It’s an excellent moisturizer and reduces the appearance of fine lines. As with all essential oils, you should combine it with a carrier oil. And it can be used along side other essential oils to enhance their properties.
